This Sahasra Kalasabhishekam seva in Tirumala is performed using 1008 vessels (also called Sahasra Kalasa) where they are filled with perfumed water ( Parimala Teertham- Pure water mixed with sandal).
Sahasra Kalasa Seva Darshan Details:
Sri Bhoga Srinivasa, who is the silver replica of the Main deity, will be brought outside the golden gates (Bangaru Vakili). A fine silk thread is used as a medium of connection between the silver idol and Main deity by tying one end of the string to the feet of Sri Bhoga Srinivasa Murthy and other end to the Main deity of Lord Venkateswara. This symbolic connection represents that the Abhishekam(Holy bath) is offered to Moola Virat along with his replica.
The 1008 silver vessels of perfumed water are used for Tirumanjanam along with eight other parivara vessels and one big gold vessel which contain Holy water (Brought from holy rivers like Ganges, Krishna and Godavari).
The Abhisekham is performed to Sri Bhoga Srinivasa along with Malayappa Swamy, Sri devi, Bhudevi and Viswakshena- the chief commander of Lord Vekateswara outside the Bangaru Vakili.
This weekly seva concludes by performing Holy bath to main deity by sprinkling the water from Golden vessel to the feet of Moola Virat. The golden vessel containing the holy water is carried around the main temple while reciting the Pancha Sukthas and Vedas (especially representing the peace) along with drum beats (also called as Mangala Vayidyam) before offering to the main deity.
After the ritual, archana is offered to Main deity in Ekantham where the main Archakas are only allowed.
